The man charged with the murder of Barbara Martin had been living with Martin for six months prior to her death, investigators say.
Anthony Witt of Lynchburg has been formally charged with second-degree murder.
At a news conference Wednesday morning at the Campbell County Sheriff's Office, investigators said Witt and Martin had lived together within the past six months.
The sheriff's office did not know if the relationship was romantic. Witt is 26 years old, and Martin was 53.
Also, investigators said the credit card fraud charge out of Lynchburg stemming from an August 3 incident in Lynchburg. Detectives believe Witt stole Martin's credit card and used it in Lynchburg.
A Lynchburg man has been formally charged with murdering a Campbell County woman.

The Campbell County Sheriff's Office says the person they were looking for in connection to a murder is in custody.

Detectives are searching for Witt, who is 26 and from Lynchburg. Investigators believe Witt is driving a black Chevrolet trailblazer with Virginia tags "XJL-8942." Investigators say the vehicle belonged to Martin
That car has a bumper sticker on it that says "Are you a good witch or a bad witch?"
Witt may also have a weapon.
Martin's body was found at a home on Springlake Drive around 4 p.m. Monday. That's in the Thomas Terrace area, off of Route 460.
Witt has arrest warrants out in the City of Lynchburg for charges of credit card theft and fraud stemming from an incident on August 3. There are no warrants out for Witt in relation to the death investigation in Campbell County.
