Police have made an arrest in Tuesday's bank robbery.

Richard Wilson Garrett, 36, of Hillsville has been charged with robbery.

Roanoke Police Department Makes Arrest in Bank Robbery

Roanoke, VA- An arrest has been made in a bank robbery that occurred on June 21, 2011.  Richard Wilson Garrett, age 36 of Hillsville, was arrested on June 22, 2011, and has been charged with robbery.  Officers responded on June 21, 2011, at 5:01 p.m. to the BB&T Bank located in the 1200 block of Colonial Avenue.  The suspect entered the bank, handed the teller a note, and received an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing on foot.  No weapon was shown and no one was hurt.


It was a note no bank teller wants to see.

Tuesday afternoon, a man walked into the BB&T bank across from the Towers Shopping Center and handed a note to the teller demanding money.

After getting the cash the man fled on foot.  So far, police have not located him.

The robber is described as a white male in his late 30s or early 40s.  He's around 5'10" tall with bald or short hair.
