Virginia State Police are investigating the cause of a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred June 7th in Campbell County.
The crash happened at 3:50 p.m. on Route 501, approximately 100 ft. north of Mollies Creek Road.
A 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe was southbound on Route 501, when it it swerved to the left to avoid a braking vehicle in front of it.
When the Tahoe swerved left, it crossed the centerline and struck a northbound 2005 Chevrolet Malibu.
The driver of the Tahoe, Deprincia Burford, 28, of Monroe, Va. and her passenger, Matthew Elam, 30, of Campbell County, were transported the Lynchburg General Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Malibu, Terry Cockran, 47, of Thaxton, Va., and passenger David N. Hubbard, 52, of Campbell County, were transported to Lynchburg General Hospital.
Hubbard was declared deceased at the hospital.
Cockran was later transferred to Roanoke for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
Burford was charged with reckless driving.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
