Construction begins on ICC bridge

Motorists could face traffic delays in Rockville as construction begins on a bridge in the first stage of the $2.4 billion Intercounty Connector highway.

Drivers are advised to plan ahead for double-lane closures and intermittent 15-minute total closures of Shady Grove Road south of Tupelo Drive/Epsilon Drive.

Construction is planned from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., from Sunday through Wednesday. It will resume again June 29-July 2; July 8-10; and July 13-17.

Double-lane closures are scheduled between 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights until July 17. Intermittent 15-minute roadway closures are also expected.
