UC Irvine's Paul Merage School of Business will have a new dean this summer, according to a news release.
Eric R. Spangenberg, who is in his ninth year as the dean Washington State University's College of Business, will take the helm of the Paul Merage School of Business on June 1, according to the release.
He is recognized internationally as a scholar and committed fundraiser who has overseen historic increases in masters of business administration and doctorate enrollments at Washington State while revising curricula. He also led the team that developed online MBA programs that ranked first in the nation by U.S. News & World Report last year, the release stated.
"We're excited to welcome a leader with Spangenberg's academic qualifications, administrative abilities and energy to the Paul Merage School of Business," said UCI Irvine Chancellor Michael Drake. "His experience and leadership will help secure our position on the global stage as we celebrate our 50th anniversary and look forward to the future."
Spangenberg, 54, said in the release that the UC system represents a "gold standard in higher education."
He earned his doctorate at the University of Washington, with a major in marketing and a minor in social psychology. He began his career at Washington State University in 1990 as an assistant professor in the marketing department before entering administration.
