TERRELL, TX—It is a typical Tuesday night in the small town of Terrell in Kaufman County. Many people have gathered at Carmona's restaurant to see President Obama reveal his new strategy in Afghanistan. "I hope it works", said local resident Jimmy Johnson. "It seems like we just never finish wars".
President Obama announced that he is adding 30,000 troops to the region. James Reed worries it won't be enough troops to get the job done. "I didn't like that he hesitated", says Reed. "He needs to send the troops the generals need".
Terrell has seen its share of sacrifice. Five service members have been killed in the last five years in Iraq and Afghanistan. Two of the men died in October. Army Specialist, Joseph Lewis (26) was buried last weekend, leaving behind a daughter and a wife.
Town folk say the losses have devastated the community and made some war weary. "I don't know how much war we can take", said D.J. Johnson, who attended the same church as Lewis.
