The winner for this week's Reader SunShots series "Our Nation's Capital" is Jeff Norman for his photo of the full moon rising over Washington, D.C. The picture was taken from the Netherlands Carillon in Virginia with a Nikon D300S and a 70-200mm lens. Norman pre-visualized the shot he wanted and used the app The Photographer's Ephemeris to figure out where and when the moon would be rising so he could be in position. Here is a critique by senior photo editor Jerry Jackson: "Capturing the moonrise over a specific location can be tough considering the full moon rises in a different location each month. I love that the photographer planned out his shot and was able to use technology to pull it off."
