Motion winner

The winner of this week's SunShots series "Motion" goes to Tracy Price for her picture of her daughter Madison, 9, at their home in Highland, Md. The photo was taken with a Canon EOS Rebel T2i. Here is a critique by director of photography Robert Hamilton: "There are a number of ways to shoot motion. This is what's known as the 'stop-action' approach. By shooting with a high shutter speed, you can freeze the action in the picture. This image is an excellent example of that method and executed to perfection. In full disclosure, I cropped the original picture much tighter than it apeared online. "

Automobiles winner

The winner for this week's SunShots series "Automobiles" is Matthew Tompkins for a humorous photo of his wife Christina and 3-year-old son Nicholas as they appear to be holding up a Lamborghini, shot at the company museum in Italy. Giving credit where it is due, Christina actually staged the photo for her husband to take with her Canon Rebel T2i camera. Here is a critique from Baltimore Sun director of photography Robert Hamilton: "Funny and imaginative pictures are always a pleasant surprise. When I came up with the category, there's no way I could have imagined something like this. This would have been a total home run if it had been just the 3-year-old holding up the car. He did a great acting job for the picture."
