Geometric winner

The winner for this week's SunShots series "Geometric" is Laurence Goldberg for his picture from the Baltimore Museum of Art sculpture garden. Laurence shot this image with a Nikon D90 DSLR camera. Here is a critique by director of photography, Robert Hamilton: "I like how the photographer took what was already an interesting and eye-grabbing piece of art and added his own interpretation to it. Rather than just documenting what was there, he made it his own."

Your one best picture winner

The winner of this week's SunShots series "Your one best picture" is Stacie Foxwell for her photograph of a Great Blue Heron on a tree at Mariner Point Park. The photo was taken with a Fujifilm Finepix SL300. Here is a critique by Baltimore Sun director of photography Robert Hamilton: "The intent of this category was to get participants sending in their 'one' favorite picture. However, we got many multiple entries -- that makes this hard to judge. However, the two winners only entered one photograph. I liked this picture because it has a very serene feel. The photographer did a nice job of composing the frame by offsetting the bird."
