Anna Ella Carroll

Anna Ella Carroll, a resident of Maryland's Eastern Shore, served as a military adviser to President Abraham Lincoln. Her role as a military strategist was controversial and her reports resulted in major military strategies that eventually helped defeat the Confederacy. She was inducted into the Maryland Women's Hall of Fame in 1992.
