Anna Ella Carroll

Anna Ella Carroll, a resident of <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PLGEO100100600000000" title="Maryland" href="/topic/us/maryland-PLGEO100100600000000.topic">Maryland</a>'s Eastern Shore, served as a military adviser to <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PEHST002241" title="Abraham Lincoln" href="/topic/politics/government/presidents-of-the-united-states/abraham-lincoln-PEHST002241.topic">President Abraham Lincoln</a>.  Her role as a military strategist was controversial and her reports resulted in major military strategies that eventually helped defeat the Confederacy.  She was inducted into the Maryland Women's Hall of Fame in 1992.
