Fox in Focus:

Introducing photographer Lloyd Fox's behind-the-scenes blog

Lloyd Fox
The Baltimore Sun

Today, I am excited and proud to launch my new weekly blog, Fox In Focus, where I will share my insights and approach in photography. In addition, I will offer a behind-the-scenes look into my assignments from sports, features, news and fashion to my black and white Instagram posts.

After almost thirty years as a staff photographer for The Sun, I still love what I do and I enjoy that everyday brings a new photographic challenge to solve.

Fox in Focus will feature some of my favorite images and observations from current and future assignments. Posts will touch on everything about the still images I make and also some video, including what worked and what didn’t. After shooting thousands of assignments over the last three decades here at The Sun, creativity has always been my priority. I have learned that it’s not what you shoot, but how you shoot it.

Fox in Focus posts will typically appear weekly in The Sun’s Darkroom blog. You can follow Lloyd on Instagram at @lloyd1fox and Twitter at @lloyd1fox.

In the photo above, this frame of a plane as it passed by the moon was made while I was shooting an early evening lacrosse game. Luck and patience played a big factor in capturing the image. I noticed the trajectory of the planes passing overhead brought several near the moon.

I continued watching them as I shot the game until one finally made its way through the center of the moon. It was shot with a Nikon D4, 200-400mm f.4 lens, 1.4x extender, ISO 800, 1/1600sec at f/5.6.
