Lucy Diggs Slowe

Lucy Diggs Slowe is credited for many "firsts." She was one of the original founders of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the first sorority founded by African-American women. A tennis champion, Slowe was the first African-American woman to win a major sports title. She also served as the first Dean of Women at Howard University. She is a 2011 inductee of the Maryland Women's Hall of Fame.
