Tossing crumbs

( Baltimore Sun photo by Amy Davis / September 29, 2011 ) From left, Ben, 8, twins sisters Samantha and Sarah, 7, and their father, Mark Swimmer, of Baltimore, participated with other members of the Kol HaLev congregation who were further downstream in the Stony Run in Roland Park , in performing Tashlich. This ritual of the first day of Rosh Hashanah of tossing bread crumbs into a moving body of water to cast off one's sins enables one to start the new year with a clean slate. Behind them (back to camera), is another congregation member, Ben Forsten. |
