Sun presidential endorsements 1884-2012 [Pictures]
The Sun was nominally Democratic in its early years but didn't formally begin endorsing presidential candidates until Grover Cleveland. Since then, it has switched political allegiances several times.

In what appears to be The Sun's first formal presidential endorsement, the paper backed Grover Cleveland in 1884. He was a conservative Democrat in a pragmatic mold that the paper's owners, the Abell family, appreciated. The Abells and the president eventually became close friends.

hmmm...endorsed Obama the Socialist. Worst President in the history of our great Country. 5 trillion more dollars in debt, scandel after scandel, unemployment still above 8% and gas prices approaching $5 per gallon...how's that working out for you?
