Recovered trove of art stolen by the Nazis [Pictures]
Investigators in Germany reported this week that they had found a cache of some 1,500 pieces of art looted or banned by the Nazis seven decades ago. The works, by modern masters including Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall and Gustave Courbet, were discovered in the apartment of an elderly man whose father was a prominent Nazi-era art dealer. Images of some of the works are presented here, along with historical photos of the Nazi regime's pilfered art.
