New life for the Md. GOP?

It may not be the game-changer some Republicans predict, and given a strong legal challenge from the ACLU, it might not even succeed. But the high-tech petition drive being run by previously little known freshman Del. Neil Parrott of Washington County is providing a new avenue for Maryland Republicans to engage voters, a promising development for the cause of robust debate. |

This bill will go to full referendum, and it will be easily defeated, because it is out of sync with Maryland voters in general. The ACLU is mostly a bunch of crap. A legal challenge to a properly vetted petition will not stand.
Maryland government is really messed up. Too much money here, and too much of it comes from and through government sources.
This not a victory for the Maryland GOP. It is a victory for existing immigration law, and even moreso for common sense, a commodity in very short supply in the politically "progressive" part of our population.
I don't see how the ACLU has a leg to stand on. The ACLU claims there could be fraud, but the Board of Elections is certifying the signatures. So how could there be fraud? And funny how they don't seem to worry about voter fraud, where people can vote without proving who they are. The ACLU is just worried that a program they favor (in-state tuition for illegal aliens) might be voted down by the voters in a referendum. The Sun is right- it's time the process to petition to referendum be made easier, not more complicated. And if the ACLU proceeds with its frivolous suit, hopefully some judge will have the wherewithall to reject it.
This law is unpopular across all lines of politics. I'm a left-leaning Democrat, but our state's leaders are WAY out of sync with voters when it comes to coddling illegal aliens.

The next petition should be about the toll increases in the bridges and tunnels.
