Justice for Trayvon rally in Baltimore
The peaceful rally included speeches and prayer from Pastor Jamal Bryant of the Empowerment Temple Church, former Maryland Senator Larry Young, Baltimore NAACP Chapter leaders, and other religious and political leaders in the Baltimore area. (Erin Kirkland, Baltimore Sun /July 21, 2013)
In response to Grafton R. Hersperger's letter ("Zimmerman was wrong," July 22), There is a reason that the local district attorney did not indict George Zimmerman, and it was the same reason that the special prosecutor bypassed the normal process of going through the grand jury: not enough proof to bring Mr. Zimmerman to trial.
Also, if Trayvon Martin had not been suspended from school (for the second time in a year), he would have been at home with his mother 200 miles away.
Certainly Mr. Zimmerman has some culpability (I think 5 years would have been appropriate), but 100 percent culpability is way off.
