Teaching load has gotten too big [Letter]

Upon reading the article, "Technology teacher positions being eliminated in Baltimore County" (Jan. 10), my thoughts went out to elementary classroom teachers and what Baltimore County is expecting of them.

The load of curriculum these teachers carry is tremendous, and now teachers are being told that there will be technology lessons to prepare. The amount of preparation, curriculum changes, test assessment and more is too much to expect one classroom teacher to do. I wonder how many of these devoted teachers find time for families and pleasurable activities when the workload and demands continue to increase and take up so much time outside of the classroom.

Having taught in Baltimore County for many years, I feel for these teachers. No one realizes the oversize demands that continue to grow for classroom teachers.
