I just received my property tax bill from Baltimore County and needed to call about the other charge appearing on the bill. It was more than the $39 rain tax — I had forgotten about the flush tax.
Both of these taxes are to benefit the Chesapeake Bay so I guess we now have a tax on top of a tax.
The only way to stop all this taxation and bring reasonable budgeting to our government is to change the people who run our government. There was no required fee amount imposed by the state, so the Baltimore County Council could have made the required fee a dollar, but they didn't have the courage to tell Gov. Martin O'Malley enough of the taxation and it was time to reduce government spending.
This upcoming election will give taxpayers the opportunity to elect officials who actually understand budgeting and stop electing those who promise to do things that will force taxes to increase.
