A recent letter writer is completely wrong to call for the U.S. to lead a coalition to attack Syria ("U.S. sits on its hands while Assad slaughters thousands," June 7). Our country is broke. We need to end the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, not start new ones in Syria and Iran, which do not threaten our national interests.
If this letter writer feels so strongly about military action in Syria, he is welcome to use his own money to go and fight for the rebels. I am not holding my breath waiting for this to happen.
