The half-time show was ludicrous. It reminded me of something the Romans would have put on after they watched lions eat the Christians, had they had the technology.
But the ads were appalling. I agree that they reflect a contemporary society sadly short on values. As a teacher, I face a battle everyday to convince my students of the value of learning and the importance of self-discipline and hard work.
The messages they get from advertising and much of the entertainment media is exactly the opposite — instant gratification, often in the crassest forms. Is it any wonder our country is falling behind others in so many ways?
