I was surprised to read The Sun's editorial concern over Maryland's future budget shortfalls ("Another budget setback," March 10).
Why worry when in a period of plunging real estate values, homeowners' property taxes are still somehow going up? Where no noble fund — for land preservation, the Highway Transportation Trust Fund, etc. — is impervious to looting? When no state employee pension fund is too underfunded to eye, and no fee — the flush tax, the rain tax, licensing taxes, etc. — is too incredible to enact?
I could go on but get my point? What could you possibly be worried about? Certainly no one in Annapolis is.
