If you look at our website (www.votenoonsolo.com/who-is-the-coalition), you will see the names of more than 2,000 Baltimore County residents and businesses who are supporting our goals.
The Baltimore County Council is being asked to approve a new 400,000 square-foot retail mall along Reisterstown Road, jeopardizing the millions of dollars in transportation infrastructure investments made by taxpayers at the nearby Owings Mills Mall and Metro Centre projects.
From the beginning, the councilwoman who represents that area has said she supports the rezoning request, essentially making up her mind without any public process. In other words, the political fix was in from the very beginning.
We think there needs to be a more fair, transparent and informed zoning process that follows the Master Plan and benefits from comprehensive studies and meaningful public input.
Our thousands of supporters urge the Baltimore County Council to take note of this flawed process, reject the tainted rezoning request, and tell the developer to come back and seek a Planned Unit Development or another more inclusive process of determining what to do with the Solo Cup property.
