The College Success Scholars Program is a proven success and a valuable program that supports the achievement of academic objectives for African American and Latino males at the University of Maryland (“What I learned as an anti-bias educator at UMD,” Feb. 22). The leadership of the program is outstanding, the commitment to excellence from the students are reflected in the great results. As a Maryland taxpayer, I would like to see my tax dollars support this program. As a UM tuition-paying parent, I would like to see my dollars support this program.
President Wallace Loh, if you are truly committed to black student enrollment success, commit funding to the program that contributes significantly to black students’ success. This program has provided excellent support for my son who achieved a 4.0 grade point average his freshman year. Please, let’s get behind this program!
