I cannot believe I agree with the editor's opinion on the matter of expanding traffic capacity (“Let the Eastern Shore be,” Jan. 2). I, for one, think that development should be held in check because all we hear from politicians is pollution, global warming and the health of the Chesapeake Bay. The politicians want more development because of their thirst for more taxpayer money and then they crow that they did not have to raise taxes.
The big reason there is so much congestion on the bridges is because of the more reasonable cost of land on the Eastern Shore for the people who work in Annapolis and areas around it. If another bridge is built, that area will suffer just like Kent Island has suffered with traffic and the redevelopment of pristine farm land for malls and the human pollution that goes with it.
