The article you published on Sept. 22, "Romney paid 14% of income in taxes in '11," implies that Mitt Romney "manipulated" his taxes by making charitable donations. Never once did you mention that the Romneys gave 30 percent of their income to charity in 2011. This is admirable and something we ought to call "generous," not "manipulative."
If you want to know what is wrong with our values today, you need only look in the mirror. Look at your masthead and you will see the words "Light for all." I assume "Light" in this context means true information. If you want to live up to that motto, you should reprint this article, and below it print the same story as told by The Weekly Standard. This comparison would be illuminating.
