Martin O'Malley does not spend money responsibly
Taking advice from Martin O'Malley on responsible spending is like asking for a diet plan from Two-Ton Tony ("Where's the beef in the budget cuts Gov. O'Malley keeps talking about?" April 7). Since he has taken office all he has done is raise taxes, raise fees and spend money. Let look at his last five budgets. In 2008 he spent $29.4 billion. 2009: $30.7 billion. 2010: $32.2 billion. 2011: $32.0 billion, and in 2012: $34.2 billion. Recently, he received approval with his 33rd and 34th tax increases when the legislature approved his $3 billion spending plan for roads and transit. Added to all of his previous hikes, the higher fuel taxes and fees will mean that the citizens of Maryland will have spent $15.5 billion more in taxes and fees over the five years of his administration.
