What did Obama do for Putin's help?

The Baltimore Sun's editorial, "Putin's dubious offer (Sept. 10), missed a key question. What did President Barack Obama give up in order for Russian President Vladimir Putin to offer a lifeline for the president's Syrian policy?

Surely, Mr. Putin did not make this offer out of the goodness of his heart. Will the American people ever be privy to that information?
