Baltimore needs a downtown track

I can't believe the obvious solution was not mentioned in the recent article about where to run the Preakness ("If the Preakness stays in Baltimore, it will be at Pimlico, officials say," May 18). Keep the Preakness at Pimlico while a new track is built downtown west of Camden Yards and M&T Bank Stadium.

A world class facility within walking distance of hundreds of restaurants, a casino and the Inner Harbor would be a huge draw for Baltimore. There are no hotels in Pimlico and there never will be. People go there for the race and then leave, the parking is horrible and there are no restaurants. A downtown facility could be an architectural gem.

I would think that Under Armour would want to be the naming sponsor. Baltimore hotels and restaurants would be packed for weeks.
