All the Orioles news that's fit to print [Letter]

Tucked in a corner of The Sun's excellent "Orioles Preview" section was a piece from The Sun's owner, The Chicago Tribune, predicting a last-place finish for the O's. This is in stark contrast to the Yankee-loving New York Times which wrote "Don't be surprised if the Orioles turn out to be the best team in the league." They went on to laud the Birds' offense, pitching, defense and coaching.

I will go with the world's newspaper of record.

Close but no cigar: O's will try again next year

Having read Jonathan Pitts and Jean Marbella's story about the pain of the Orioles loss in the ALCS, I really feel for the team and its fans ("Sorrow in Baltimore as team that swept us off our feet is swept by K.C.," Oct. 15).

Done. Poof. Are these the words that describe the wonderful season the Orioles have given us, or are they the words of fair weather friends?

Win or lose, Orioles a class act

Have to really respect our Baltimore Orioles for their conduct on and off the field and how there was no trash talk from our clubhouse ("Everything keeps coming up Royal blue," Oct. 15). The team overcame some personnel changes to give us fans an exciting baseball season.

Just six months to Opening Day

After the red-hot Kansas City Royals completed a four-game sweep of the Orioles in the American League Championship Series, I'm still flaunting my team colors. For the first time in my life I can say I'm proud to be an Orioles fan ("There's no joy in Baltimore," Oct. 16).

    The virtues of instant replay

Replay and Review has been used in Major League Baseball in some form for a little less than three years. Every year has seen a change in the exact operations, and this past season was clearly the biggest change yet ("Some thoughts on MLB's new pace of game measures and modified replay rules,"...
