If Obama is qualified to be president, maybe Martin O'Malley is, too

Although a bid for the presidency by Martin O'Malley appears to be stretching the realm of possibility ("O'Malley framing his plans for 2016," Aug. 5), he has only to look at the present holder of the office. President Barack Obama, as a first term senator with little in his background to recommend him for the presidency, not only was elected in 2008 but reelected in 2012 despite his dubious record on the economy and foreign affairs.

My only advice to Mr. O'Malley is to go for it, despite his record as governor. Stranger things have happened; witness Spiro Agnew who would have become president if he hadn't been removed from office before President Richard Nixon was forced out.
