O'Malley's record on taxes and fees

It looks like our governor is batting 1.000 in this year's General Assembly — and that lawmakers are falling all over themselves to make sure his agenda gets passed so the liberal media can see all the wonderful things he's done as he prepares to run for higher office in 2016.

So let's review the last six years. In addition to gay marriage (which I have no problem with), we also now have in-state college tuition for people who are in the state illegally (which I do have a problem with).

And of course, there are all the new taxes and fees enacted during his tenure: A sales tax that's up 20 percent, passenger vehicle registration and title fees up 100 percent, tolls at bridges and tunnels up at least $1 each way.

And let's not forget the new gas tax, which will ensure what we pay to the state for a gallon of fuel will go from it's current rate of 23.5 cents per gallon to almost 40 cents per gallon over the next three years — and continue to rise with the Consumer Price Index after that.

I could go on, but you get the idea. Naturally, The Sun thinks all this is just great. In fact, The Sun hasn't spoken out against any of these new burdens put on citizens. It has endorsed them all.

It makes me think back to when we had Republican Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. in office. He got trashed by The Sun when he raised vehicle registration fees. It seems it's only OK if the Democrats raise taxes. Or maybe I'm just being paranoid.
