Republicans are the dividers [Letter]

What is Peter Morici talking about ("Obama's policies divide the nation?" Feb. 18)? President Barack Obama dividing the country? On my planet, I've seen and heard divisive rants and actions from the tea party faction of the Republican Party, from Sens. Mitch McConnell, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, and from a regular group of representatives in the House via C-SPAN. Their task has been anything but constructive. Professor Morici's commentary seems to fall into the same category.

Glad he's secure in his tenure at the University of Maryland and that he doesn't have to fear Hillary Clinton — as if she would be a personal treat. Frankly, I think she'd be nuts to try to lead this country with the screwed-up Congress and the corrupt electoral system.

It is particularly disappointing that outgoing Maryland Transportation Secretary James T. Western Md. faces fracking threat

The recent article about fracking in Western Maryland seemed to me to raise more arguments for not drilling for natural gas in Garrett County than for it ("Fracking debate intensifies in Western Maryland, those benefits would be relatively short-term since "Western Maryland's gas reserves are...

I read with interest the commentary by the "nonpartisan" Gordon MacInnes of New Jersey ("Will Larry Hogan lead like Chris Christie?" Jan. 19).
