In response to your editorial comment that no one can claim Dr. Vivek Hallegere Murthy, President Barack Obama's nominee for U.S. surgeon general, isn't qualified for the job, let me say it right here: He is not qualified ("Another NRA victim," March 19).
Dr. Murthy just completed his residency in 2006, so he only has about seven years of real experience. I guess compared to President Obama, that's a lot. But in the real world, seven years is a woefully small experience base for such an important position.
Yet because he was a supporter, donor and (most importantly) a bundler for the president, I guess that counts for far more than real-world experience. He will fit right in this administration of elitist academicians and bureaucrats.
