I am rather bemused at all the furor being raised about Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake spending a few getaway days at a friend's beach house ("Friends in high places," June 14).

The hostess is a lobbyist, but she is also someone the mayor has known for many years. The have been long-time friends.

Mayor Rawlings-Blake may not be the most stellar person to hold public office since FDR, but please: She is human and needs a few days down time now and then.

Can we please have a modicum of respect for her while she vacations?

Can't we agree that's what we ourselves would desire while on vacation with family, loved ones and even old friends?
