I read Jill Rosen's article on Baltimore advertisers not pulling ads from Rush Limbaugh's show ("In Baltimore, advertisers appear unfazed," March 7) and came away perplexed about what this says about both listeners and advertisers in Baltimore. WCBM general manger Bob Pettit attributes complaints to the station to "liberal activists" in an "attempt to silence the voice of conservative radio."
To view complaints over Mr. Limbaugh's vile attack on a woman trying to participate in our democracy as merely "an attempt to silence the voice of conservative radio" is paranoid and beyond the pale. Common decency means nothing to these folks, and it is rather sad that they are so indoctrinated that they cannot look in the mirror and be ashamed.
Joseph McCarthy's reign of terror ended when Joseph Welch stood up to him and asked, "At long last, have you left no sense of decency?" I can think of no better rebuke to Rush Limbaugh.
