Israel has a right to defend itself

The Palestinian Authority continues to emphasize its hatred for Israel and its goal of eliminating the Jewish

In his usually overheated rhetoric, letter writer Ray Gordon continues to blame Israel defending itself, while absolving Hamas and Fatah of any crimes ("Stop shielding Israel," March 22).

Is the firing of over 10,000 rockets at Israel civilians by Hamas acceptable to the writer, or the terrorist acts committed by the al-Aksa Martyrs Brigade, an arm of Fatah?

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has one goal, namely to ensure that the Jewish state remains free from harm from its Arab and Muslim neighbors.

Meanwhile, the leaders of the Palestinian Authority have continued to emphasize hatred for Israel and the elimination of the Jewish state and its inhabitants as their ultimate goal, be it through international pressure or military action.

Incidentally, for an apartheid state that is more than 80 percent Jewish, Arab Israeli citizens who support the Palestinian Authority won 14 seats in the Knesset, or 12 percent — a showing that is particularly notable given how many of its delegates are hostile to the very existence of Israel.
