Trace Middle East strife to Obama [Letter]

Barack ObamaAl-QaedaChristopher Stevens

As the Middle East continues to burn in high gear in the midst of much killing and destruction occurring in all of the countries there, it makes me feel very downcast as I have also been reviewing these disturbing accounts in 23 different newspaper articles including in The Baltimore Sun ("Walking a fine line on Iraq," July 1). In Iraq, civil strife is in high gear among the various sects, particularly Prime Minister Nouri al-Malaki's Shiite Muslims and a terrorist splinter group called The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.

It all started at the end of 2011 when President Barack Obama sent all of the military forces home from Iraq when it was quite obvious that it was just a political ploy to enhance his chances for winning reelection in 2012, which he did. We citizens are well aware of the results as Iraq lost its opportunity to become the first democratic nation in the Middle East in which a strong fortified regime could have been established. It might have come to come to the aid of those in need such as Ambassador Christopher Stevens and his three cohorts who were killed in Libya.

It is also quite evident that by Mr. Obama's abandonment of Iraq the terrorists forces have grown substantially. Such moves have taken America down a notch. Al-Qaida and its allies present an extreme security threat and will definitely require the defense of a strategy of a strong military and an avenue of intelligent and diplomatic efforts by the U.S. It is also extremely important to understand that, in my opinion, American freedom will not be secured by empty threats, meaningless red lines, leading from behind, appeasing our enemies, abandoning our allies or apologizing for our great nation — sadly, all of which have been hallmarks of President Obama's doctrine for the past six years.

Attention, my friends. If you understand and agree with me, I am sure you are familiar with the avenue to your voting booth.
