The discussion about the immigrant children illegally crossing our borders illustrates the three faiths of the U.S. ("Mikulski, Democrats cut immigrant funding proposal," July 22).
The first and dominant faith is capitalism, which says "get yours and don't worry about the others."
A lesser faith in terms of numbers is democracy, which teaches that "what's good for the majority is good enough."
Running a very weak and poor third is Christianity, which claims "we are our brothers' keepers."
