Crime and illegal immigration in Frederick

Illegal ImmigrantsImmigrationArtscape

Frederick County still has an ample amount of farmland and thus attracts more than its share of illegal immigrants. This is good for farmers but it also has created substantial additional crime the area could well do without ("Frederick County officials still see role in enforcing immigration laws," Aug. 8).

Most of the deportations from Frederick are a direct result of nabbing criminals who happen to be in the country illegally.

Maybe the woman eating her sandwich just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, or maybe the police were investigating a crime in the area and she was only being questioned when it was discovered she was illegally here. The liberal press loves to focus on the one case without merit and totally ignore the numerous Frederick deportations of people who are criminals.

You can compare this to Baltimore City where criminals are slapped on the wrist as many as 40 times before they finally kill someone and you have to arrest them. The headlines include at least one shooting per day and on many days multiple shootings.

No matter how much promotion you do to draw people in for sporting events, Artscape, conventions or other events, I won't set foot in the city for fear of being a recipient of a stray bullet.

Before you try to paint Frederick as some kind of rogue attacker of illegal immigrants, perhaps you should ask why Baltimore City isn't doing more to fight crime.
