Don't excuse law-breaking by immigrants [Letter]

OK, here we go. Your latest editorial on the subject of illegal immigrants comes again to the point of absurdity ("Patching a broken immigration system," April 17). These people broke the law but because they have been here quite a while we should not deport them.

Maybe I should go out and steal a car and hide it for some years before finally admitting I had committed this crime but now I am a good guy. So don't put me in jail because now I'm a good guy!

That was then, this is now.
