During the war in Iraq, public opinion was mobilized in some newspapers by listing the number of lives lost during the conflict in a small corner on their front page. In the same way, we must focus in on the carnage caused by guns in our country.
While we now grieve the deaths of innocent children in Newtown, Conn., we must recognize that gun deaths occur every day in the United States.
Keep us focused beyond the latest event. Continue to remind us that action has to be taken to prevent this continuing carnage.
