In response to letter writer Vince Gardina's statement that he doesn't want his taxes raised to pay for increased school security, since when does the government allow you pick and choose where your tax money goes ("Let gunner owners pay for armed school guards," Dec. 27)?
I have no children, yet my taxes keep schools and recreation parks open. Do I get a direct return on my dollars? No.
Haven't you heard that "an armed society is a polite society?" It comes down to people being responsible for themselves and not relying on the government for their welfare.
One can't believe that the criminal on the corner will not be able to secure a firearm. A war on guns will be like our war on drugs, a big hole that we pour dollars into without results.
