Why Jews don't support the GOP [Letter]

Former Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. opines for 13 paragraphs on the reasons Jews don't vote for Republicans but he barely touches on the reasons for that lack of support ("The GOP supports Israel more than Dems," Aug. 24)

Maybe Jews despise the inherent racism within the party, the Christian Evangelicals who dictate its social policies, the slow and willful erosion of the one-man, one-vote Democratic political philosophy and the GOP's fervent embrace of the gun culture.

Despite the fact that Republicans generally support the state of Israel, maybe American Jews looking at today's Republican Party and its leaders are just fearful that what they are seeing there is a return to good old-fashioned fascism.

They've been there and done that, Bob, and they aren't going back.
