Your article "GOP candidates take aim at Democrats" (June 2) quotes several Republican candidates for governor as bemoaning the current situation in which businesses and the wealthy are leaving Maryland in droves because of high taxes and over-regulation.

Where are the facts to support these allegations? I haven't seen any. As a scientist, I am accustomed to grounding my statements on documented facts. Apparently these politicians do not place themselves under these standards.

Facts do show that, compared to neighboring states in 2013 and 2014, Maryland is near the top in per capita income and has the second lowest unemployment rate.

It is difficult to conceive a flight of jobs and wealth given these statistics. Politicians often come up with fabrications, then repeat them to each other so often that they begin to believe what they are saying is actually true.
