Slap a GPS on Doug Gansler

Maryland State PoliceDouglas F. Gansler

I do not know if Maryland Attorney General Douglas Gansler or the Maryland State Police troopers are telling the truth about the alleged incidents of unsafe driving, but both of the parties involved are at fault ("Gansler denies unsafe conduct on road," Oct. 15).

Even if Mr. Gansler requested the troopers to break the laws, it is their sworn oath to enforce them. That being said, everyone has seen law enforcement on Maryland roads exceeding the speed limit and other activities that are illegal in this great state.

Here is an idea to resolve many of the issues concerning the traffic conduct of law enforcement: Place monitoring devices on their vehicles, like some insurance companies offer, and have some oversight of their driving behavior to ensure that they are not only enforcing the laws but also following them!
