Come on guys, have a heart. In the March 2 issue, the Baltimore Sun juxtaposed two diametrically opposed stories. Spread across the front page was "Flacco's record payday" which goes on to note that Joe Flacco signed a contract for $120.6 million. The story continues on page A10. Then just below the Flacco headline is an article noting "First cuts in federal budget initiated." This story, which is also continued on page A10, reveals the "$85 billion in across-the-board cuts..." I understand the theory of marketing and that the Flacco story helps sell papers. However as most are starting to see some hope after the recession, we now are faced with furloughs, cuts in pay, cuts in education, cuts to senior benefits, to name a few. So while Mr. Flacco's pay may be exciting to some, at least place it on the Sports pages where it belongs, rather than rub it in the faces of those who may be working several jobs just to make ends meet.
