Taxing the rich will solve 7 percent of the problem

The reality is that the federal government is borrowing $3.3 billion a day, and President Barack Obama wants to fix it with taxing the rich, which will solve about 7 percent ($224 million per day) of the problem.

Of course, the rich should pay more, but the real problem is government spending. We cannot wait years to start addressing this issue. A balanced budget must be hammered out within a few years. Also Medicare will go bankrupt in 2024 and Social Security in 2033. If we don't start tweaking these important programs now, it will become almost impossible to fund them in the future without Greece-like consequences.

Can we have a recall vote and get rid of all 536 elected officials? I don't see any hope with the positions being taken by President Obama, House Speaker John Boehner, and Senate Majority leader Harry Reid.
