Susan Reimer's column on sports injuries cajoles parents not to give up our responsibility for children's involvement in tackle football ("Use your head," Oct. 22).
Maybe her responsibility as a journalist should include investigating the NFL commercial that touts what the league is doing to make the game safer.
It would have been rather easy to discover that the woman billed as Ray Lewis' mom was not actually his mother, and that the "doctor" who appears in the commercial was actually an actor playing a doctor.
What does it say about an organization when it can't be truthful in representing the medical community? I suppose the NFL could not find any discernible doctor to sell their product — and maybe Ray's mother didn't want any part of a phony campaign.
